I am a native of the state of New York who is currently attending college at Hunter College and working towards an undergraduate double major in Economics and Chinese. I started my tutoring career by volunteering in high school helping students who needed extra assistance in English and history as well as preparing for the SAT. I also have taught French and English to students in a language exchange program. I would teach students English for one hour and then they would teach me French for one hour. I can also tutor students in any of the following subjects: Chinese, French, English, history, and standardized and college entrance exam prep.I believe that as a tutor, I am there to guide students and provide them encouragement. I am not there to give a student the answers. I will work with each student on strategies that will work for their own specific needs. I work with students using motivation and positive reinforcement. A typical tutoring session with me will consist of three parts: a general discussion of what we are to cover that session, a quiz on what you are working on, and review on what you need help with, and finally we'll end with a summary of what we reviewed that session.Outside of tutoring, some of my interests include traveling, reading, learning languages, listening to music and going to concerts, surfing, and going to the movies. However, my favorite extracurricular activity is surfing. Surfing is not only the most relaxing but also the most exciting sport that I have tried.
